Yeah, he was on his way to a party with Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.

KATHMANDU (Reuters) - A U.S.-based television channel investigating the existence of the legendary Yeti in Nepal has found footprints similar to those said to be that of the abominable snowman, the company said on Friday.

A team of nine producers from Destination Truth, armed with infrared cameras, spent a week in the icy Khumbu region where Mount Everest is located and found the footprints on the bank of Manju river at a height of 2,850 metres (9,350 feet).

One of the three footprints discovered on Wednesday is about one foot long, or is of similar size and appearance as shown in sketches of the mystical ape-like creature believed to live in snowy caves, the TV company said.

Some local sherpas believe that the Himalayas are abodes of strange creatures and consider the Yeti as a protector while others say it is a destroyer.

Bracelet Found After 25 Years - In a Chicken Of Course

It just shows you, you should always put your name on things.

FAIRMONT, Minn. - More than two decades after Aaron Giles lost his identity bracelet, he's finding how it was discovered tough to swallow. A meat cutter at Olson Locker in Fairmont came across the shiny object in a chicken gizzard and saw a name, address and phone number engraved on it.

"I've heard of livestock swallowing unusual objects, but this situation stands out," Mark Olson, who owns the meat locker, told the Sentinel of Fairmont.

Giles had lived in Fairmont as a child and played hide-and-seek and other games with his brothers in their grandfather's barn near Sherburn.

"I would spend most of my time out at his farm, and that's the only place I can think of that I would have lost it," Giles said about his bracelet on Thursday. The 31-year-old said he thinks the bracelet was lost when he was 4 or 5.

"It was in pretty immaculate shape. Everything was working on it, and all the engravings on it were still legible," Giles said. "It was quite the surprise."

Toads in a Hole?

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's toad population could face extinction in some areas within 10 years due to an infectious fungal disease, scientists said on Wednesday.

Deadly Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis was introduced to Britain with the release of non-native North American bullfrogs. They have since been exterminated but the disease remains.

The big unknown is just how long the fungus, which lives on the skin of host amphibians, can survive on its own in water. Scientists fear it may be a very long time.

The disease has already destroyed entire amphibian populations in Central and South America, and Australia, and is a growing problem in some parts of Europe. Scientists have linked its spread to global warming.

Luckily, the common British frog (Rana temporaria) is resistant to the disease.

According to British retailers, pillows and duvets made from Hungarian goose feathers are "soft", "luxurious" and have an "unparalleled ability to spring back to shape".

But in recent years Hungary's poultry sector has been hit by repeated bird flu outbreaks, leading to the culling of 1 million birds, mostly water fowl, and a doubling of feed prices.

Feathers still account for up to 12 percent of Hungary's poultry exports, although competition from China is increasing.

VIENNA (Reuters) -
An 800-year-old map, the sole surviving copy of a chart used by the Roman Empire's courier service, was put on show for just one day on Monday after being accorded "Memory of the World" status by UNESCO.

Director general of the Austrian National Library Johanna Rachinger (L) and President of the Austrian UNESCO commission Hans Marte display a facsimile of a fragment of the

The parchment scroll, nearly 7 metres (yards) long, could only be displayed briefly because too much light would damage it, before it was returned to storage at Austria's National Library, where it has been since 1738.

From north to south, the map covers the British Isles to north Africa. But because the scroll is just over 30 cms (12inches) high, the north-south axis is greatly compressed, depicting the Mediterranean Sea as a small stretch of blue squeezed between today's Croatia and Italy.

"It's a bit like when you look at a map of the Vienna underground system -- it's not accurate but it gives you a good idea of how to get around," Andreas Fingernagel of the National Library told journalists at the showing.

Beauty queen Ingrid Marie Rivera beat 29 rivals to become the island's 2008 Miss Universe contestant, despite applying makeup and wearing evening gowns that had been coated with pepper spray, pageant spokesman Harold Rosario said.

Rivera was composed while appearing before cameras and judges throughout the competition. But once backstage, she had to strip off her clothes and apply ice bags to her face and body, which swelled and broke out in hives twice.

Someone also stole Rivera's bag containing her gowns, makeup and credit cards. And a bomb threat forced pageant officials to postpone the last day of competition on Thursday, said Magali Febles, director of the Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant.

Dede, nicknamed "Tree Man", has been treated like a freak show because of the horn-like growths.

The 35-year-old, who only has one name, is unable to work because he cannot use his hands and lives in poverty with his two teenage daughters.

US doctor Anthony Gaspari from University of Maryland tested Dede's blood and said the growths are caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a fairly common infection that usually results in small warts.

Dr Gaspari believes Dede's condition can be cleared up using daily doses of a synthetic form of Vitamin A, which halts the growth of warts in severe cases of HPV.

80 Year Old Cookies Worth Over $30,000

I guess it's the tin that is worth most of the money, but still, I wonder what they would taste like...

LONDON (Reuters) -
A rare 1920s cookie tin and its original
contents were auctioned for 15,600 pounds ($32,000) in London on Wednesday.

The Sports Coupe car-shaped tin went for more than five times the pre-sale estimate, Bonhams auction house said.

Its unusual shape always made the car an attractive item. Its original cost is estimated to have been about 100 pounds in today's prices.

The tin, designed as a children's toy car, was fitted with electric headlights and featured a male driver and female passenger.

The biscuits were in the shape of numbers and letters while others depicted "exotic animals."

She said it was highly unusual for a tin of that age to be in such good condition - and to have retained its original biscuits - especially "considering this was a children's toy."

"All of this made it a highly desirable collector's piece," she added.

Giant Bug Found

So all those B-Movies were right! There are giant bugs waiting to eat us all!

clipped from news.yahoo.com

LONDON - This was a bug you couldn't swat and definitely couldn't step on. British scientists have stumbled across a fossilized claw, part of an ancient sea scorpion, that is of such large proportion it would make the entire creature the biggest bug ever.

The discovery in 390-million-year-old rocks suggests that spiders, insects, crabs and similar creatures were far larger in the past than previously thought, said Simon Braddy, a University of Bristol paleontologist and one of the study's three authors.

"We have known for some time that the fossil record yields monster millipedes, super-sized scorpions, colossal cockroaches, and jumbo dragonflies. But we never realized until now just how big some of these ancient creepy-crawlies were," he said.

But the next time you swat a fly, or squish a spider at home, Braddy said, try to "think about the insects that lived long ago. You wouldn't want to swat one of those."

Piglet Found Wrapped in Toilet Paper

Normally pigs are found in toilet paper-related stuff!

LONDON (Reuters) -
A piglet nicknamed Andrex is recovering after being found in the back of a lorry full of toilet paper at a supermarket.

The animal, thought to be two or three weeks old, was discovered in a delivery at a Tesco store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Staff wrapped the piglet in a duvet and called the RSPCA, a Tesco spokesman said on Tuesday.

"We will now care for him until he is fit enough to be found a permanent home," said Ella Herring, the shelter's deputy manager.

"Staff are used to dealing with the unexpected, but little Andrex's arrival was a shock," a Tesco spokesman said.

"They took it in their stride, wrapping him up straightaway in a duvet in the manager's office and calling the RSPCA for advice and help."
