Lawsuit...condom found in burger

Van Miguel Hartless alleges he bit into the burger and found the unwrapped contraceptive under a piece of lettuce.

"My third bite into the burger, it was just a foreign taste," he said. "It was a very sour, bitter sort of taste. It almost had a numbing sensation.

"As I went to bite down a little harder, I felt a rubber grind in between my teeth. I saw it half in my mouth, half hanging out.

In the lawsuit, he says the experience has caused him "pain, suffering, nightmares, distress, and medical expenses".

Horse Goes Swimming in Winter

Should have used a public rink like everyone else.

DORSET, Vt. - A horse was rescued after accidentally taking an icy plunge in a swimming pool. Jet, a 6-year-old quarterhorse, walked onto the frozen in-ground pool Thursday and broke through six inches of ice into about 3 1/2 feet of water, becoming trapped.

"It just looked like a meadow to him, and he stepped on the ice," said his owner, Janet Waite.

The animal shook uncontrollably and was losing strength as several rescue attempts failed, according to Vermont State Police Cpl. Gary Shuhart, who responded to the incident after being flagged down by a passerby.

Finally, rescuers broke the ice in a corner of the pool and got a rope around the horse's neck, pulling him to safety and wrapping him in a blanket. He was taken to a veterinarian and treated for a cut to his left hind leg.

Employment company Westaff, which supplies stores with red-robed, white-bearded Father Christmases, had earlier asked its Santas to say "ha ha ha" because the word "ho", which is American slang for whore, could offend women, media reported.

In the latest incident, the Cairns Post newspaper said 70-year-old John Oakes was sacked on Monday for saying "ho ho ho" and for singing the Christmas song Jingle Bells.

"They're trying to kill the spirit of Christmas," said Oakes, a retired entertainer who has been a Santa for three years.

"The candidate was not sacked nor was his use of the term 'ho ho ho' a factor in our decision," Jansz told the Cairns Post.

They remembered a series of numbers better than the undergraduates, reports the Daily Mirror.

Japanese researchers pitted three pairs of five-year-old chimps and their mothers against a dozen students.

Each group was shown numbers from one to nine on a touch screen. When they touched the first number, the other eight turned into white squares.

The test was to touch the remaining squares in the order of the numbers that used to be there. All the young chimps scored higher than the undergraduates.

Researcher Tetsoro Matsuzawa, of Kyoto University, said: "Young chimps have an extraordinary memory - often better than humans."
